Small friendly church. Love the music! Seem to be very involved in community outreach by helping at the salvation army, homeless connections, VIM, and more. For a smaller church, they seem to be very active.
St James is a small church with a friendly and caring environment. The hospitality that they show for members and visitors alike is heartwarming. The music is a great mix of contemporary and traditional music all rolled into one service. I recommend St James if you are looking for a smaller church with big heart.
My husband, children and I transferred from Emmanuel United Methodist Church to St. James Church. I had,been a member of EUMC for 36 yrs. The parishioners became more and more a click. I decided to try St. James Church out and my family and I decided to join. The majority of the time we were members my husband was the sole wage earner in our family of 6. One thing all the Methodist Churches do is require every member to sign a pledge form once a year. Due to my husband not earning enough to support our own family, I would pledge $10.00/week OR whatever we could afford. That was not good enough for St. James's board members. We received a letter in the mail stating we no longer were welcome to be members of their church. I had never heard of such a thing in my life and in speaking to others they never heard of anything like this either. So we were left without a church and "church family. " It was then that I am our oldest daughter who was going to be married in less than a year joined First United Methodist Church in Appleton. I would never recommend St. James United Methodist Church to anyone, unless they could afford to pledge the big dollars that this church is only concerned about. I was taught that a church was meant to give guidance to their parishioners, nor be only out for the almighty buck.
