I had a very bad foot crushing injury 14 months ago and got surgery done from a different doctor. I am having ongoing pain with sinus tarsai and my surgeon was saying all we can do is wear orthotics, get cortisone shots or cut a redundant ligament out which may or may not help. I am an active athletic person and this was not acceptable so my therapist recommend Dr Derksen for a 2nd opinion. Turns out he discovered I had multiple fractures in my subtalor joint and it will eventually need to get fused. He also would have taken my hardware out which is limiting me, what he says if full of common sense and I was impressed that he could find the problem so quickly compared to a bunch of visits somewhere else where they didn't understand the problem. I learned Dr Derkson doesn't treat all patients the same like others and realizes everyone has a unique situation and was very impressed.
Surgery on both feet for bunions. Surgery was quick and recovery was as expected. Was able to return to desk job 5 days after surgery. Doctor was professional and pleasant. Thank you!
I wouldn't wish this "doctor" on my worst enemy. He has absolutely no sense of urgency for his patients and would rather let them suffer for months on end before taking any action. Scheduling is also a nightmare, as getting in takes months. Once he finally sees you, he uses common sense just to push you out the door. His practices are inhumane and will offer you no solace when it comes to prescribing medication for debilitating chronic pain. Meanwhile, I have to watch my girlfriend cry every night from the his botched surgery, apart from not getting any sleep.
Surgery on hammer toes. Severe pain and malformity in toes . Had post op follow for after surgery and then after pins. No more appointments were scheduled. Released me as a patient. Need to see another surgeon due to malformation of bones.
