Prices are great, but you get what you pay for. We were hopeful because of the positive reviews we read. Showed up to check in and the front desk lady had her child up front. I get not having childcare, being a mom myself, but then the second day the child was back out front. The hotel is VERY outdated. Very. We got up to our room. Beds are small. Cigarette burns in the curtains, lights burnt out. It was decently cleaned though. The first front desk person got done working, and then a man took over. Around 430 pm, we asked the front desk worker about the bar, since there was a listing for a happy hour type special. He was very abbrassive and was texting instead of opening up the bar on time. Told us he was "too busy" and "he'll get to it if we want". So the front desk person is also the bartender? That seems a little inefficient. Pool is very small, but we enjoyed it regardless. 4am pops around, and a fire alarm comes on. It was a false alarm, but with kiddos (especially an 11 month old) it was really frustrating and disappointing. That may have not been the hotel's fault, but it was just the icing on the cake for our overall experience. The continental breakfast has gotten good reviews on here, but it's literally powdered eggs and your basics. Nothing great to write home about. If you're really wanting to know what its like there before booking, check out the negative reviews as well as the positives. We wish we had.
Fine location for a local business trip. Rooms were fine, spacious, a bit outdated but very comfy beds, nice shower, clean and included a small microwave and refrigerator. Check in service was okay. Free breakfast was plentiful!
The prices at the hotel are pretty good for what you get. The hallways smell weird and really funky. The rooms were pretty nice. Nice clean bathroom and room. The heater/ac smelled awful and occasionally worked. Beds were soft though. All in all the hotel was pretty good!
Had early check in because of eye surgery. Got walked in on by housekeeping who refused to knock or announce themselves while bare naked getting ready for a shower. A bit ridiculous.Update: Because you want to use my embarrassment and lack of dignity from your workers as a "trainable moment" to employees who should and have already been trained, you might also want to train your breakfast attendant as well. When asked where is the milk for cereal, I don't find the response of "are you blind" a very appropriate one. IveInever been so appalled by the way I've been treated by your employees. I wish I could give a zero star review. This is how I would expect to be treated at a motel 6, not a hotel I'm paying almost $100 a night to stay at. After the BS at breakfast this morning, I will never stay here again.
Overall, this is a nice place to stay. The location is awesome. It's right off of the expressway, and walking distance from Fox Valley Mall. Even if you're not a shopper, there are plenty of fast food type places to eat there. The complimentary breakfast was very good (eggs, waffles, potatoes, yogurt, etc.), although I wish there had been additional fruit choices other than apples and bananas. The hotel rooms need renovation, but the hotel is going to be renovated soon when it becomes a Four Point. So, if you're looking to build reward points through GrandStay, that won't be happening.
