Best possible scenario for visiting an emergency veterinary service. I'm writing this because some of the negative reviews almost discouraged me from calling, but I'm so glad I did. When I came home from work at 11 p.m. on a Saturday night, our cat Fiona was clearly in pain with a sudden UTI. The Animal Referral Center took care of her wonderfully. Every receptionist, tech, and vet was kind and accommodating. Our concerns were all thoroughly addressed. Not much more expensive than dealing with regular vets, and I never felt pressure for unnecessary testing or other costs. Most importantly, our sweet girl is already feeling much better. Thank you!

We recently brought our dog in for surgery to have a tumor removed from his neck. Dr. Frank was completely professional and spent time with us to explain the situation and our options. He was able to operate within one day and it was a very successful surgery. Dr. Frank personally followed up with us to explain the results, which were positive. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Frank and the staff at FVRC. It isn't an inexpensive place to go, but veterinary care is generally not cheap and I thought it was fair for the circumstances.

Worst experience of my life, wish I had never gone. My cat fell or jumped off his cat tree and hurt his paw. He couldn't walk on the leg so we thought we were doing the right thing taking him in. Boy were we wrong. They took him back to look at his paw and he started hyperventilating and breathing heavily. They left us back there 45 minutes alone as this escalated. I finally went out and asked if they had forgotten about us. When the vet finally came in she made a comment about how she "didn't like his breathing" but yet she didn't think to give him anything to help calm him down. Instead she said his paw was fine and he would calm down once he got home. Wrong. We got home and he died on the living room floor in my husbands arms. Wish we had just waited for our vet.

I'm So Very Pleased And Grateful!I can't thank Dr. Bruce and everyone at the Animal Referral Hospital enough for helping our little Marla. She is a Pectus Excavatum (funnel chest) cat.Dr. Bruce trained with the doctor who developed the procedure that was performed and I felt very comfortable with his skills. He explained my options clearly and I never felt pressured to do anything.Pricing was very reasonable for my services. They were explained clearly. Everything fell within what I was told (we had no complications, so that was a factor as well). They also kept my regular vet informed of everything that was going on.My daughter has used this hospital for her dog and was pleased. This is why I chose them. I drove 2 hours one way to take Marla here and I am so so happy we did it! I highly recommend them to anyone!

Fraudulent practice with under-trained staff but friendly receptionists. Highly recommend against this clinic (FVARC)! Had my 3.5 year old dog taken here who needed a total hip replacement. After paying $800 for X-Rays and a blood test which came back fine, Bruce tried convincing me of alternate options for my dog because of potential complications related to performing a total hip replacement. In accepting the risks and explaining wanting the absolute best for my dog, it soon became clear that Bruce lacked confidence in performing the total hip replacement. In taking my dog to an alternate Vet which specializes in hip replacements, it was discovered that 2 of the 3 X-Rays taken at Fox Valley were extremely poor quality due to over exposure and missing a measuring bar which is critical for proper hip replacement sizing. This revelation of the missing measuring bar further indicated that Fox Valley was merely running up charges without any intent of actually performing a total hip replacement. I contacted the Fox Valley manager, Kris, who felt more concerned with backing her co-workers than taking responsibility for their errors and providing a righteous partial reimbursement on 2 of the 3 X-Rays. Additionally, I had paid to have my dog's blood test expedited only to find out that Fox Valley had the results sitting in their inbox for 2 full days and only realized they had the results sitting idle when I called after a week to find out why expedited blood tests had been taking so long! Unless you have a kitten or puppy for a basic checkup, Fox Valley is ill equipped and trained. It is my professional humble recommendation to drive the extra distance and go somewhere reputable. Fox Valley operates more like a used car dealership, marking up and selling whatever they can to bolster profit margins! What a shame, pets deserve better.
